Do I need an account to use Oryvelle?
No. All core features — sounds, fade timer, guided breathing, and your private notes — work without an account. Google Drive permission is requested only when you choose Backup or Restore.
The app asks for notification permission. What is it used for?
Oryvelle can send a gentle morning reminder to log how you slept, after a session of at least 5 minutes. You can decline the permission and the rest of the app works normally. You can also control reminders from your device's notification settings at any time.
What is the bedtime routine builder?
The routine builder lets you set up a sequence of steps for winding down — choosing a sound mix, a breathing exercise, a sleep timer, and a morning journal reminder. You can set a goal (such as falling asleep faster or winding down gently) and a support level. Set it up once in Settings → Wind-down routine, then start it from the home screen each evening.
What breathing patterns does Oryvelle include?
The app includes two patterns: Box breathing (inhale, hold, exhale, hold — each 4 seconds) and 4-7-8 breathing (inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, exhale for 8). Both can be used as part of your bedtime routine or started independently.
Sounds and playback
Do sounds require an internet connection?
The first time you play a sound, the app downloads it over the internet. Public sounds use an automatically managed cache of up to 72 MiB. Premium audio used in the current session can use up to 64 MiB and is cleared when the session ends. If a sound is not cached, an internet connection is required.
A sound I used before is no longer available.
The sound catalog is updated periodically. Sounds that are removed from the catalog will no longer play, but they will remain visible as coming-soon placeholders until replaced. Saved mixes that include a removed sound will load the remaining sounds.
Playback stops when I lock my phone.
Make sure the app has permission to run in the background. On some devices (especially Xiaomi, Samsung, or Huawei), battery optimisation settings may kill background audio. Go to Settings → Battery → App launch (or similar) and set Oryvelle to manage itself manually.
I can hear sound but nothing shows in the notification or lock screen.
Check that notification permission is granted for Oryvelle in Android Settings → Apps → Oryvelle → Notifications.
Journal and notes
Can I edit or delete a past journal entry?
Yes. Open Sleep notes, tap the day you want to change, then use the edit or delete action. Deleting an entry is permanent and will ask for confirmation first.
I accidentally deleted an entry. Can I recover it?
If you have a Drive backup or a local JSON export that includes the deleted entry, you can restore it from Bedtime settings → BACKUP & TRANSFER → Restore sleep notes from Drive. The restore adds missing dates and updates existing ones, so it will not overwrite entries that are already there.
Can I add my own mood tags?
Yes. When logging a journal entry, tap + Add tag at the bottom of the mood tag list to add a custom tag. Custom tags are saved on your device and appear alongside the predefined ones for future entries.
What does the sleep analytics screen show?
The trends screen shows your sleep quality over the last 7 days, 30 days, or all time, based on the ratings and duration you log in your journal. It includes a quality trend line, a weekday pattern chart to spot which nights you tend to sleep best, and a rating breakdown. Personalized insights appear on the home screen and update weekly as you build more entries.
How many entries do I need before insights appear?
The app starts surfacing insights after a few entries. The more consistently you log, the more specific the weekly insights become — including which sounds and mixes are associated with your best nights.
Google Drive backup
Why does Google ask me to choose an account or grant permission?
Oryvelle requests access only when Backup or Restore needs the private Google Drive app-data folder. Continue only if you want to use that feature. Oryvelle does not create or keep a Google profile in the app.
Where is my backup stored in Google Drive?
Your backup is stored in a private app folder that only Oryvelle can access. It does not appear in your main Drive file list. You can find and delete it through Google Drive → Storage → Manage storage → Oryvelle.
What happens if I disconnect Google Drive?
Disconnecting revokes Oryvelle’s Drive permission and clears pending authorization state. Your local data is unchanged, and existing Drive backups remain until you delete them from Google Drive. The next Backup or Restore will ask for permission again.
Drive backup says it failed. What should I try?
- Try Backup or Restore again and complete Google’s account and permission prompt.
- Check your internet connection.
- Make sure you have enough storage in your Google account (the backup is typically a few KB to a few MB).
- Try again — Drive can occasionally return a temporary error.
Data and privacy
How do I export my journal?
Go to Bedtime settings → BACKUP & TRANSFER → Export sleep notes backup. This saves a JSON file to a location you choose on your device.
How do I delete all my data?
You can clear your sleep notes and saved mixes individually from Bedtime settings. To remove everything, uninstall the app — this removes all locally stored data. If you also want to remove your Drive backup, delete it from Google Drive → Storage → Manage storage → Oryvelle.
Does Oryvelle collect analytics or share my data?
No. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Personalization and settings
How do I reset the onboarding questionnaire?
Go to Bedtime settings → PERSONALIZATION PROFILE → Reset profile. This clears your onboarding answers and relaxation profile. Your journal entries and saved mixes are not affected.
How do I reset my wind-down routine?
Go to Bedtime settings → BEDTIME ROUTINE → Reset routine. This clears only the routine setup. It does not stop active playback, delete journal entries, or change your timer defaults.
